There are so many odd, unbelievable twists in this novel that your credulity will truly be well strained. It's a nicely constructed twisty, tragic, funny, and sexy book though. The two female protagonists/antagonists (they're both a bit of both) run into each other in the weirdest way. One is overweight, the other an exercise, nutrition nut. This is where the tension lies...well, not all of the tension. One of them does every muscular guy she can and the sex is more of a workout than it is sexy. The other is running away from an emotionally abusive boyfriend. They couldn't be more different. There are frequent news updates about Siamese twins who flit back and forth between being separated and staying together for the sake of romance and sex and quite possibly death. They are background for the main story between Lucy and Lena, which also features all 3 of the aforementioned life changers, a story that's never predictable.Unusually for Welsh, this story takes place in the U.S. Miami, FL to be exact. One of the advantages of this is that you don't have to decipher phonetic Scottish and slang as you have to with most of his books (but who am I kidding? I love that!).A good read. Recommended.
